Doctor
Johnnie Bruner, DVM
A Wichita native, he returned here when he graduated veterinary school in 1987 from Kansas State University. He has two children and lives with his 11 year old cat "Baby", who thinks the other cat in the mirror is a real threat to his cozy existence.

Dr. Bruner had worked for two other Wichita veterinarians before opening Oakcrest Pet Hospital in July of 1999. From these veterinarians he has brought with him knowledge and experiences that have helped to make this hospital a success. He is an advocate for pets, believing that they are truly a part of our family and our daily lives.

Painting with watercolors is one of his passions and you may see some of his work hanging in the clinic. He has recently learned to sculpt with clay but is still a novice so you won't see any of those works. He tries to keep in shape and works out at the local YMCA. When not at the "Y" you can find him mowing the yard or tinkering in the garage.

Melanie
Melanie and her husband Ryan live with their two rescue kitties, a beautiful border collie named Harley, an overweight guinea pig, and four fish with endlessly long names. There may soon be some little bundles of joy in the family as they are seriously considering breeding Harley for her first litter this spring. They both agree how it will be nice to hear the pitter-patter of a couple dozen feet!

Melanie is a 2006 Magna Cum Laude honors graduate from Cowley College with an Associates of Science Degree in Veterinary Medicine. She is also a member of Phi Theta Kappa - National Collegiate Honors Society.

Melanie joined the Oakcrest Pet Hospital team on August 4th 2006, and looks forward to an exciting working future with such excellent and compassionate people.
